Scrub land at Ty'n y CoedBucket loads of rain fall, the cows squidge around in mud looking miserable, muck accumulates mysteriously quickly, and firmly resists shifting. Then the rain lets up and we get on top of the muck – literally and metaphorically. As the days lengthen, the chickens decide to oblige us with the odd egg. The first ones are very odd – tiny, without yokes. Some mild, sunny days give us the chance to explore the coastline, and let Non (the dog) have the walks she craves. Progress is made with a few jobs on the farm, and we fill in the necessary forms to get ourselves listed as a camp site in the Camping and Caravanning Club publication, called ‘Your Big Sites Book’. We have invested in a shower room and a few other facilities, and will be open for business in July of this year.

Everything is unseasonally early here as elsewhere. We have a fine display of snowdrops, the first

miniature daffodils are out, and by the end of the month, frogspawn has appeared in several places at Ty’n y Coed (our second patch of land). Let’s hope this early spawning does not get caught out by a return to bitter winter weather.
